ITINERARY

DAY ONE

GAUTENG TO MAPUTO (MOZAMBIQUE) VIA SUDWALA CAVES
Guests are picked up from Airport in Johannesburg or from their hotel, Johannesburg or Pretoria at 10am. We drive direct to Mozambique with a stop at Sudwala caves in Mpumalanga Province , South Africa. We enter Mozambique through Komatipoort and arrive in Maputo in the late afternoon and check-in at our hotel.

DAY TWO

TOUR OF MAPUTO
After breakfast at the hotel we start the tour of Maputo where guests will get a good impression of the city. First we the municipal market followed by a stop at the old Fort which dates back to 1769. Other attractions of the city of Maputo that we will visit include the Catholic Cathedral, the Civic Centre, Louis Trichardt Trek Memorial, Samora Machel Statue, the Jardim Tunduru (Botanical Gardens) and the Iron House. We will also visit the best known landmark in the city, Polana Hotel, built in the 1920s. and an art gallery where furniture and sculptures are made out of old AK47 weapons that were used during Mozambique’s civil war. After lunch at a restaurant in town we leave for Kruger National Park in South Africa exiting at Komatipoort Border Post. We spend the night at a lodge just outside the Kruger National Park.

DAY THREE

KRUGER NATIONAL PARK
We start the day just as the gates to the Kruger National Park open, with an early morning game drive. We will have breakfast at about 10am at Skukhuza Camp – the main camp of the Kruger National Park. Continue with the game drive and check in at our camp inside the park at late afternoon.

DAY FOUR

KRUGER NATIONAL PARK
The early bird catches the worm. We have an early morning drive before breakfast. After breakfast we continue our game drive until late afternoon when we go back to our camp or check in another camp. Evening game drive in open vehicles at own account is available.

DAY FIVE

MORNING GAME DRIVE PANORAMA ROUTE & BACK TO GAUTENG
Check-out and have a morning game drive stopping for breakfast between 9am and 10am. After breakfast we drive towards the gate. We exit at Kruger Gate and drive back to Johannesburg or Pretoria via the Panorama route, stopping at the small historical towns of Hazyview, Graskop and Pilgrims Rest – this reconstructed mining settlement from the 1870’s gold rush days is worthy visiting. The whole little town is a museum and a national monument. On the way we enjoy seeing very beautiful, exciting scenery - gorges, landscapes, God’s Window, waterfalls and Bourke’s Luck Potholes - the cylindrical and rather alien-looking deep potholes filled with green water are carved into the rock by whirlpools where two rivers converge. We reach Johannesburg or Pretoria between 5pm & 6pm.
